They both partake in a fantastical journey encountering mythical creatures and celestial beings. But an evil demon is set on harming Ai Ling and lures them towards a trap. Would Ai Ling be able to free herself from the evil demon in time or become forever enslaved? That you'll have to read Silver Phoenix to find out...

I hope the romance factor is played out between Ai Ling and Chen Yong in the sequel. I will definitely be on the lookout for future works by Cindy Pon.

Thursday, November 20, 2008

Scratching Post!

Elevating Leg Rest!

&

Five seconds inside the 'cat bed' before jumping out!

Saturday, November 15, 2008

Some of my favorite music at the moment contains a strong violin presence in the melodies. Useless piece of information, but I used to play violin for 3 yrs in the middle school orchestra. I remember breaking a violin that I rented from my teacher; I tripped over the violin. But I do love the sound of violin when played by professionals. Simply beautiful when the tunes mesh together just right. Currently listening to Atari Kosuke and some Duffy on my playlist. Love it; love them; lovely tunes.

Saturday, September 06, 2008
It's official. I just received my voter registration card in
the mail. In the past, I never bothered to register to vote with the excuse
that it'll only lead to being called in for jury duty. Pardon my ignorance, but
I really had no interest in sitting in court while I could be in school or at
work. I am interested in politics, but not as interested as I should. This year
is definitely the time to vote. The economy crisis, ongoing war, effects of global
warming, immigration reforms, etc. are just a handful of issues affecting the
American people and are some of the issues I want to gain more knowledge on prior
to the November elections.

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

She breaks off her reading and looks outside. From this
second-story window she can look down on the busy street. Even at a time like
this, the street is bright enough and filled with people coming and
going—people with places to go and people with no place to go; people with a
purpose and people with no purpose; people trying to hold time back and people
trying to urge it forward. After a long, steady look at this jumbled street
scene, she holds her breath for a moment and turns her eyes once again toward her
book. She reaches for her coffee cup. Puffed no more than two or three times,
her cigarette turns into a perfectly formed column of ash in the ashtray.

-- excerpt from novel, After Dark by Haruki Murakami

* * * * *

Saturday, November 03, 2007

Lotto update:

Grrrrr... Not only do I
have the all work and no play syndrome, but now I am also a newbie mother. My
baby boy is about 3 months old and in the teething stage. Some days it is
frustrating, when we are playing and he suddenly forgets and bites me. Then I
would have to grab his nearest toy and hope he would gnaw it. But I am not sure
if it is such a good reinforcement because as he gets older, I do not want him
to think… okay, I bite and you fetch. Sigh. So much to think about on this thing
called motherhood. But he is definitely an affectionate baby boy and loves to
purr-a-lot. Okay here is the whole baby story, I recently adopted a baby kitten
and he thinks I am his mother or the other way around, I think he is my baby.

N’ways
here are a couple of photos my younger sibling took of Baby Lotto on his first week at home.

Monday, December 25, 2006

'Do you love me?'

Pause.

'Well do you love me or don't love me?'

"Yes!"

Hmmm… 'Do you love me more than Dodo?'

*Lol* It is the holiday season and a couple of our extended
relatives stopped by to visit our new house last night. This was a cute conversation from my littlest nephew asking my aunt, who is his grandmother on how much she loves him. Btw, Dodo is the
name of my aunt's dog chihuahua.

A lady walks into the store and inquires if
there are any job openings. I reply back no. The clothing shop is small enough
for a one person operation and a daughter or two during the weekends and
holidays. I suddenly felt guilty for replying back so quickly. Having been at
the other end once before, I understood the frustration of not being able to
find a job. So I look the lady in the eye and explained that she could come
back when the owner was in, maybe my mum would know someone else who was hiring.
But I was not able to keep eye contact for long before lingering down to the
bruises by the side of her mouth. Damn bastard, I thought. The lady looks around
nervously towards the front door. After hearing the end of my sentence, she
looks less burdened. She looks at me closely and says 'you are very pretty' before leaving the store. I suddenly felt a wave of melancholy. One would think
hearing a compliment would lift your spirits up, instead I took it in as a
comment. I should be very pretty because I do not have someone waiting for me
at the other end of the door, someone who will hit and hurt me when they hear
bad news. Sigh.

Thursday, November 30, 2006

Blah.. haha. *winks*
